UMD Quidditch’s James Hicks on Team USA: Please donate!

UMD quidditch’s own James Hicks was selected to Team USA for the olympic exhibition matches in London this July, and it would be super awesome if we can all pitch in a bit to help James get to London and represent Maryland quidditch there. On that note, we’re asking everyone who is able to please consider donating so he will be able to make the trip across the pond. There are a variety of ways you can do so, and we encourage you to donate as much as you can — every little bit helps!

First, you can donate directly to his donation page. You can make donations from debit/credit cards and the minimum donation is only 2 dollars.

If you want to donate via check or cash, you can email James and he can give you more details on that!

You can also buy a Team USA jersey [a plain jersey is $49.99] and make sure you put his name in the player dedication box on the form, then all of the profits from the jersey will go directly to James.

Also, please help spread the word! If you can only donate a few dollars, that will definitely help, and you can also pass along the information for donating and help make sure that we can show the world one of the awesome players Maryland Quidditch has to offer! You can check out his fundraising page on Facebook for more information.

PS: Free candy for people who donate something then come to College Park at some point. But seriously. Who can pass up free candy?

BONUS!!!

If you donate $10, you’ll get a personalized postcard from the UK:

If you donate $15, you’ll get a personalized quidditch wallpaper/background like this:

If you donate $30, you’ll get a plate of his famous mixed berry cheesecake cookies.

If you donate $80, he’ll make you a customized and completed Maryland Marauders jersey:

Lately Harry (top) and Jimmy (bottom) have started this thing where, while everyone’s brooms are down and eyes are closed, they spin around their brooms and only stop at “brooms up!” They then try to run towards the balls at the center of the field. What usually ensues is a montage of zig-zagging, stumbling, and sometimes falling. Additionally, it adds to the light-hearted atmosphere of practice. For reals.

The Shell Shocking Spectacular was a pretty amazing experience. The fact that I couldn’t play and still was able to do so much really really made it super special.

Starting off, I had some of the players from the NY Badassilisks stay over at my apartment the night before and I finally was able…

We love you too, Kayla!
